print design - film poster
Being John Malkovich
Poster designed for critically acclaimed film, Being John Malkovich. The process involved hand-cut collage of 18th-century anatomical drawings inspired by an old manual given to Cusack during the film. Puppet strings entangle the pieces together, and each element in this web references an idea, character, or scene from the movie. One of the main themes in the film was the struggle for control, which I conveyed through hands reaching for a spool, and a fist to symbolize the obsession, possession, and objectification of a faceless woman. The chaos of the poster evokes the bizarre nature of the film.
